About

We are East London Brewing Company, founded in Leyton in 2011, and among the first new-generation craft breweries to emerge in East London during the UK’s craft beer revolution.

Our first beer – Foundation Best Bitter – is still very much part of our core range, which includes some wonderful, award-winning beers for cask, keg, bottle and can. We regularly brew seasonal and special beers carefully curated for every season.

While the company's founders, Stu and Claire, continue to be involved, in 2024, post-covid, the brewery was acquired by local company, Network-6, which operates several businesses in hospitality, including two pubs in East London and a tequila brand, taking us into a new and exciting growth period.

In addition to brewing excellent beers, we embrace our East London heritage through our collaboration with the strong business and social community of makers, producers, artists, and creatives in East London. This includes a long-standing community program supporting neighbourhood initiatives and events.

Our Community

Since 2011, we have been embedded in the local community, supporting neighbourhood events and initiatives, along with providing jobs and a brewing apprenticeship scheme.

The Walthamstow Beer Project, now in its 11th year, is one example of our work within the local community. When in 2013, six local residents asked if we'd be interested in brewing a beer with hops grown in their gardens, allotments and balconies, we thought that might be fun. Fast forward to today and around 200 local residents are now part of the project, bringing their harvested hop bines to the brewery each September for a communal hop cone-plucking and green-hopped beer brew day. In 2024, around 7000 pints of local, green-hopped pale ale were produced!

Our brewing apprenticeship scheme offers hands-on learning and experience, passing our expert knowledge and skills on to the next generation of young brewers.

We work continuously to minimise our environmental impact and work ethically, with sustainability and support for our local community in mind:

  • All the spent grain from our brewing process is biodigested and used to make electricity, or goes to the gas grid
  • We have an environmental purchasing policy
  • We collaborate with local businesses, photographers and designers directly supporting and investing in the local economy
  • We pay London Living Wage as a minimum
